Benefits of having french drains!

HISTORICAL FACT: The French drain was invented by Henry French in 1859 in an effort to  channel water away from the base of buildings.
                           Remove Excess Moisture
If a house is built in a location like the bottom or side of a hill, there is a chance that water may collect on the sides or in the basement. By installing a French drain, you can ensure that the water does not collect around your house or basement and that it flows through the drain. The drain will move the water from the higher location (your house) to a lower location (the end location of the pipe)

Drainage Choice
Rather than let rain collect in areas in your yard and around your house, a French drain gives you a choice of where you would like the water to flow. For example, if your garden is often dry while the side of your house is consistently flooded with water, you can build the French drain to flow from your house to your garden. Keep in mind, the place you choose to drain the water to must be lower in elevation than original location of the water

Economical
A French drain is relatively inexpensive when compared to other drainagesystems. Typically a simple installation of a frech drain system in the backyard can run $400-$600
Time
The simplicity of the French drain leads to a quick installation. A professional that has installed French drains before will be able to build the drainage system within a 4-5hour period in some circumstances a few days. Other drain systems may take longer to complete and they may cause more havoc for your yard considering top soil removal/removal of landscaping might be necessary.

Benefit

The biggest benefit in the state of Texas in having a french drain is as follows.
                                        -Proper drainage: eliminating pooling water.
                                        -Stronger Foundation: Un-equal amounts moisture
underneath your slab can create uneven settling, foundation issues, etc.

-Healthier landscaping: Without standing water your lawn will be much                                         healthier in the end, your flower beds will blossom consistently, etc.
